Karviná vs Slavia: Preview, Free tip & Prediction

The sixth round of the Czech league will conclude on Sunday evening with the match between Karviná and Slavia. The home team has not won once yet this season, however Slavia are not enjoying a perfect start either. Although they have not lost in the league yet, they have experienced two disappointments in Europe. 

Basic information, news and team form

Nobody expects points from Karviná in this match, but the fact is that MFK could use some. The Silesian side is still winless after five rounds played, dragging a series of three defeats in a row. Last time they lost to Viktoria Plzeň (0:2), before that they fell to Zlín and Sparta. Their only two points are from the beginning of the season, when they drew with Pardubice and Hradec. Karviná is struggling with poor defence (not a single clean sheet yet) and an inability to hold a lead in games. Against both Pardubice and Zlín, MFK were 2-0 up in the 60th minute, yet they only recorded one point in those matches.This week, Karviná at least improved their mood in a cup match, beating Slavičín 5:1.  

Slavia, on the other hand, continued its league run from last year, not losing a point in four matches, conceding only once. But not everything is rosy in Eden. Slavia dropped out of both the Champions League and the Europa League, meaning only the Conference League's group awaits them in autumn. The goal was to participate in the Champions League, so the losses to Ferencvaros and Legia are a big disappointment. Before the national break, however, Slavia have an ideal opponent for a return to winning ways. 

Betdoin's view of the match 

Neither the bookmakers nor the Betdoin algorithm give Karviná much chance, but the home team will certainly not give the tired Slavia anything for free. Betdoin algorithm estimates that at least in the first half the game could be even. As one of the value bets, the system has selected under 1.5 goals in the half, with odds around 1.50. Given the need to avoid defeat, MFK will go into the match determined and could trouble the favourite, even if it is not enough for a win in the end.

There should be very few absences on the home side, only Čmelík's start is uncertain. Slavia is currently missing several injured players, including Ševčík, Plavšič and Kuchta. On the other hand, Krmenčík and Olayinka, who came on as substitutes against Legia on Thursday, could appear in the lineup.
