One of the highlights of the twelfth round of Ligue 1 will be the Lyon vs Lens clash on Saturday night. The visitors are surprisingly better off in the table, with a five points advantage over Lyon.
Basic information, news and team form
Lyon have been hit by regular lapses in form in previous years and so far it seems that even Peter Bosz has no solution to this problem. In general, OL has been putting in solid performances on the pitch since around the beginning of September, but the results often don't match that. On the one hand, Les Gones scored a valuable win against Monaco or a turnaround in the Europa League match against Sparta Prague, but at the same time they needlessly lost league points against Lorient and Saint-Étienne. Sunday's Round 11 match at Nice only confirmed Lyon's inconsistency: in the 80th minute, OL was still leading 2-0 and heading for a very important win, but they still found a way to lose the match 2:3. This is one of the reasons why they are only 9th in the table, five points away from the second spot.
Second place is held by their Saturday opponent from Lens. Last year, from the position of a newcomer, they surprised the whole Ligue 1 and came very close to finishing in European places. Although they lost that chance in the last round, this year they seem to be well prepared for another attempt. Lens have 21 points and are doing much better than Marseille, Monaco or Lyon, from whom second place would be more expected. Last time Racing blasted Metz 4-1 at home, clearly confirming that they are one of the best teams in France going forward.

The game should offer a great duel between two teams that rely mainly on attack. The offensive quality of the Paqueta-led Lyon needs no analysis, but Lens are not too far behind and have long been one of the most entertaining teams in the league.
