As the last game of Week 18, Serie A will see a clash between two title aspirants. On Sunday night, AC Milan and Napoli, two heavyweights of Italian football, will face off at San Siro.

Just a few weeks ago, it looked like the battle for the Italian title might be limited to AC Milan and Napoli. Both teams were on long unbeaten streaks and their rivals were falling further and further behind. However, the course of the last rounds has shaken this assumption considerably: both AC and Napoli have suffered a lapse in form, which has been reflected in the table. It was Milan who coped better, retaining the runner-up spot, this time not behind Napoli but city rivals Inter. The Rossoneri experienced a miserable November, during which they took only one point from three league games, but in December they managed to stabilise their form. Last weekend, AC only drew 1-1 at Udinese, but in the previous rounds they recorded smooth wins over Genoa and Salernitana. 

If in the case of AC Milan the word crisis is not needed, it is a different tale for Napoli. In the opening 11 rounds of the league, SSC has not lost once, notching up 10 wins and leading the table. But the Partenopei completely lost form at the start of November and so far it doesn't look like they are close to finding it again. Napoli have won only once in their last six league games (4-0 against Lazio) and have notched up three defeats, falling to Inter, Atalanta and Empoli. It was the last mentioned team that Spalletti's men welcomed in the last round and they will not remember it fondly. Napoli produced 30 shots in the match, but didn't score a single goal and lost 0:1.
