Ostrava vs Slavia: Preview, Free tip & Prediction

18.12.2021 13:00

Ostrava and Slavia will play the very last Fortuna Liga match of 2021 on Sunday evening. Both teams are in good form, so the usually heated duel should offer a great battle.

Basic information, news and team form

Baník have subtly built up a rather impressive unbeaten streak, which currently stands at seven league games. Ostrava's last defeat came in the 11th round at Slovácko, where they suffered their second away loss of the season. Since the end of October, however, no one has taken three points against them, which has helped Baník significantly in their climb up the table. After 18 rounds, Ostrava are in a solid 5th place, just a point behind fourth-placed Slovácko. FCB could be even better in the table, if not for some unnecessary draws: in the mentioned series of 7 matches without a loss there are 4 of them. But in the last two rounds Baník showed very convincing performances. First, Ostrava beat České Budějovice 4:1 at home, then last weekend in Ďolíček they beat Pardubice 3:0.

Slavia haven't lost in the league for some time, but it's not exactly a surprise for the defending champions. They have successfully avoided draws as well, their last one was in České Budějovice at the end of October, where they took only a point after a 2:2 result. Since then they have played 7 league games with an impressive record of 7 wins, 19 goals scored and 0 goals conceded. Of course, this series also meant a return to the top of the league, which Slavia hold with a three-point lead over second-placed Plzeň. Due to the demanding schedule, SKS had a postponed cup match with Zlín this week, but they managed to make it through even with a rotated line-up and secured their participation in the quarter-finals with a 3:1 win.

Betdoin's view of the match

Can Baník end Slavia's streak of clean sheets? Ostrava have managed to beat Sparta and Plzeň at home this season, but the biggest test yet awaits them against Slavia. The visitors are clearly the favourite, but Betdoin's algorithm predicts that Baník will be able to fight against the defending champions. One of the selected value bets is BTS, i.e. both teams will score.

Absentees and estimated line-ups

The home team will miss only Laštůvka and Kukučka, who are recovering from injuries. Slavia will have to do without the usual names, Bořil, Kúdela, Takács, Tecl, Ševčík and Provod are still out.

Ostrava - estimated line-up:

Budinský - Ndefe, Svozil, Lischka, Fleišman - Tetour, Kaloč - Azevedo, Kuzmanovič, Buchta - Klíma

Slavia - estimated line-up:

Mandous - Bah, Ousou, Kacharaba, Oscar - Holeš, Hromada - Schranz, Stanciu, Masopust - Kuchta
