The eleventh round of the Fortuna Liga will finish on Sunday evening with a clash between Pardubice and Sparta. Two teams in very different form will meet in Ďolíček. While Pardubice have been waiting for a win since August, Sparta won the Prague derby in the last round after five long years.

Pardubice surprised the whole Fortuna Liga last year and finished 7th, which was a huge achievement for a newly promoted side. However, one of the oft-repeated football lessons is that the second seasons in the top competition are usually the hardest. Pardubice have so far confirmed this assumption. In ten rounds, coach Krejci's charges managed to win only once, beating Bohemians 3-0 at the end of spring. The other points were earned for three draws, but most often they left the field as the loser. Pardubice are currently on a run of three losses in a row and they also failed in the cup, where they fell short to second league Jihlava.
Sparta also had a weak spell in September, but managed to get back on a winning streak before the international break. After losing points against Plzeň and Jablonec, Sparta demolished Zlín (5:2), triumphed in the Europa League against Rangers (1:0) and above all won the derby against Slavia, which the Reds beat 1:0 at home in the last round. It was the first derby win for Sparta since 2016, and the celebrations matched it. The hero of the match was Slovak midfielder Lukáš Haraslín, who scored the only goal of the heated duel from a free kick.
