Slavia Prague vs Ostrava: Preview, Free tip & Prediction
22.08.2021 08:00
After managing only a draw against Legia Warsaw on Thursday, Slavia is set to return to the league scene. The defending champions have not lost a single point this season, but on Sunday evening they will be tested by perhaps their toughest opponent yet. Baník, who are on a streak of three wins in a row, will come to Eden.
Basic information, news and team form
While in the league Slavia are meeting expectations and have nine points from three games, their record in Europe is not that great. The elimination in the qualifying round of the Champions League with Ferencvaros was not expected, especially since Slavia outplayed the opponent in both matches. Participation in the Europa League can be a consolation, but SKS will have to fight for that too. And it won't be easy, after a 2:2 draw in the opening game, Slavia will face a big test next week in Warsaw. However, the Sešívání can take confidence from the fact that they clearly outplayed their Polish opponents at home and were deprived of the win by defensive errors and missed chances.
Baník is not concerned with European football, but this year the Ostrava club would like to change that. Ostrava entered the season with a 0:1 loss in Jablonec, but since then they have been playing in great form. Baník has three wins in a row with a total score of 11:3, which should give them some confidence ahead of their trip to Eden. Although Zlín, Budějovice and Pardubice are not opponents on the level of Slavia, Ostrava has handled them with great ease. After a long time, Baník seems to have a well-functioning attack, which has been reinforced by striker Ladislav Almási, a summer signing from Ružomberok.
Betdoin's view of the match
With Slavia's usually strong attack and Baník's recent results, goals spring to mind as a promising betting opportunity. However most of the goal odds are fairly accurate and it's hard to find value in them. Betdoin's algorithm instead found an interesting pick in the corner kicks market, specifically the over 9.5 line. Both teams can play corner-rich matches and according to the system, this bet has a promising value.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
Krmenčík, Olayinka, Plavšič and Ševčík have injury issues on the home side, while the start of a few other players is uncertain. Slavia have a crucial rematch with Legia in a week, so a slight rotation of the line-up cannot be ruled out. At the same time, SKS could use a dominant win to boost their confidence, especially in front of their home fans. On the Baník side, there is a question mark over the readiness of Buchta and Budínský.
Slavia Prague - estimated line-up:
Mandous - Bah, Kúdela, Zima, Bořil - Traore, Stanciu - Masopust, Lingr, Sima - Schranz
Baník Ostrava - estimated line-up:
Laštůvka - Ndefe, Svozil, Lischka, Fleišman - Kaloč, Tetour - Azevedo, Kuzmanovič, Potočný - Almási
