The weekend programme of the Czech Fortuna League will end on Sunday evening with a duel between two teams from the top of the table. Fourth Slovácko and second Plzeň are separated by only three points, so neither team can afford to lose.

Basic information, news and team form

When Slovácko swept Sparta 4:0 at home two weeks ago, they moved from the black horse of the competition to one of the title contenders. It was the seventh win for FCS in the last eight matches, so there was no doubt about the long-term form of Martin Svedik's team. Slovácko were also expected to win last weekend when they travelled to České Budějovice. The visitors were in control of the match for a long time, despite a missed penalty they were still leading 2:0 in the 70th minute and thanks to a red card of the home team's Hora they even had a man advantage. However, the end of the match offered an unprecedented collapse of Slovácko, who conceded three times in a quarter of an hour and lost the match 2:3. It was a blow to the team's confidence, but only the match against Plzeň will show how big. 

Plzeň, on the other hand, cannot complain about the course of the last round. Viktoria desperately needed a win at home against Bohemians, as they had only two points in the previous three rounds and lost the lead in the table. But the end of the unsuccessful series was clear very quickly. The home side took the lead in the 10th minute, increased it to three goals before half-time and the final score of the match stood at 6-0. After a dominant performance, Plzeň settled firmly in 2nd place in the table, three points behind the leader Slavia. Sparta and Slovácko are within striking distance of Plzeň though, so Viktoria will have to fight for more important points on Sunday.

Uherské Hradiště should see an even match, as evidenced by the odds without a clear favourite. Slovácko is strong at home, which is something Sparta could tell stories about, but Plzeň is not to be underestimated this season either.
