Newcastle vs Chelsea: preview, free tip and statistics
29.10.2021 08:00
Saturday's programme of the top English competition will continue with a clash between the first team in the table and a team that may also start to speak soon in the battle for the top positions.
Background information, news and team form
Newcastle fans can expect big things from their team again after decades of their team languishing on the tail of the Premier League possibly in the second tier. Last month saw the official approval of the sale of the club, which had dragged on for several years, and the new owner of the club is Public Investment Fund, a Saudi Arabian investment company with indirect links to the Saudi royal family. Yasir Al-Rumayyan became the new chairman of the club, making Newcastle the richest club in the Premier League (13 times richer than the previous owner Manchester City). Other Premier League clubs have opposed the takeover and so it will be interesting to see how this develops. Newcastle's new owners promise a bright tomorrow, and within 10 years they would like to turn the provincial club into a team fighting for Europe's biggest trophies. Among the first victims of this restructuring of the club was Steve Bruce, who managed to keep the team in the Premier League for the last two seasons. Graeme Jones has become the interim manager of Strak and there is already speculation that Portuguese manager Pablo Fonseca, who has been replaced by Jose Mourinho at AS Roma, could become the new manager. Newcastle may have a bright tomorrow, but the present is still bleak. The Magpies are penultimate in the table with just 4 points and the second-highest number of goals conceded. It is thus expected that some of the investment to come into the club will have to come in the January transfer window in the form of new ready-made players who could stave off relegation. Chelsea went through a similar rebuild to that of Newcastle at the start of the millennium when it was taken over by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. However, at that time there was no financial fair play and so the club's transformation into a European powerhouse was a little easier and quicker. Newcastle's chairman himself has let it be known that he would like to follow a similar path to Chelsea, namely in the form of heavy investment at the start in the club's facilities, academy and subsequent education of his own players. Chelsea is currently in first place in the Premier League with the fewest goals conceded, and would certainly like to maintain their table position against Newcastle. However, Thomas Tuchel's team is not expecting an easy match. The German coach will once again be missing his main attacking weapons in the form of Romelu Lukaku and Tim Werner, but if the German pilot's team plays with the same passion and intensity as in the last match against Norwich, to whom Chelsea gifted 7 goals, Chelsea should take 3 points away from St. James' Park.
Betdoin's view of the game
Chelsea enters this match as clear odds-on favourites at odds of 1.40. A draw is priced by the bookmakers at odds of 4.9, and a win for the home side Strak is available at odds of 8.7. The goal line is set at over 2.5 for this match. Our clever Betdoin algorithm has found value for this match mainly in underdog betting. For example, the under 3.5 goals could be an interesting bet. Another interesting bet appears to be the over on yellow cards for example, with the home team having received at least 2 yellow cards in the last five games for the Magpies.
Absentees and estiamted line-ups
Newcastle will have Jonjo Shelvey back after a card penalty. Martin Dúbravka, Freddie Woodman and Paul Dummett remain out through injury. Chelsea is starting to pile up injuries. They will be missing both of their spearhead strikers and newly added Ruben - Loftus Cheek, whose hip injury continues to return, and Azpilicueta, who has a shoulder problem. A question mark hangs over Ngol Kant, who is troubled by a muscle injury, and Christensen, who had a dental procedure and is suffering from fever.
Newcastle - estimated line-up:
Darlow - Krafth, Lascelles, Clark - Manquillo, Hayden, Willock, Almiron, Ritchie - Wilson, Saint-Maximin
Chelsea - estimated line-up:
Mendy - Chalobah, Rudiger, Silva - James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Chilwell - Mount, Hudson-Odoi - Havertz
