Wolves vs Manchester United: Preview, Free tip & Prediction
28.08.2021 14:00
The third round of the Premier League concludes on Sunday afternoon with Wolverhampton taking on Manchester United. The Red Devils confirmed a sensational return of Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday, but the legendary Portuguese will not be available for this match.
Basic information, news and team form
Manager Bruno Lage is not having a great start to his debut season on the Wolverhampton bench. His charges have not scored a single goal in the first two rounds of the Premier League and lost 0-1 against Leicester and Tottenham. The loss to Spurs was especially frustrating, as Wolves outshot their opponents 25:7 and conceded from a penalty kick. On Tuesday, they took out their anger on Nottingham, beating the Championship side 4:0 in a cup match. It was a dominant performance and the fans can hope that on Sunday, Wolves will show something similar and hopefully record their first points of the season.
Manchester United, on the other hand, have started the season well, beating Leeds 5-1 at home in the first round. Paul Pogba was unstoppable, recording four assists, while Bruno Fernandes added a hat-trick. However, last weekend at Southampton, United failed to live up to their image as favourites and only picked up a point for a 1-1 draw. Although the game was dominated by the visitors, Pogba and co. didn't get more than an equalizer. If this result disappointed United fans, this week's events made up for it. Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester, and although for a long time it looked like he was headed to the blue part of town, it ended with a sensational return to United. On the pitch, the Portuguese will help his teammates only after the international break, but just the announcement of his transfer already influenced the atmosphere around the team.
Betdoin's view of the match
Will Wolves end the wait for their first goal of this Premier League season? According to the Betdoin algorithm's prediction, yes. The system found value in a bet on Both to score, where the odds are around 1.80. The home side created more than enough chances against Spurs last time out, while United's defence has yet to keep a clean sheet this season. However, the offensive quality of the visitors is huge even without Ronaldo, so goals on both sides of the pitch offer an interesting betting option.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
Wolves will miss the injured Jonny, Boly, Neto and Mosquera. At the same time, the possible departure of winger Traore is being discussed, but he will probably be available. United will have to do without Rashford, McTominay and Telles, while Sancho and Varane could make their debuts in the starting line-up.
Wolves - estimated line-up:
Sá - Kilman, Coady, Saiss - Hoever, Neves, Moutinho, Marcal - Trincao, Jiménez, Traoré
Manchester United - estimated line-up:
De Gea - Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw - Fred, Pogba - Sancho, Fernandes, Lingard - Greenwood
