Rennes vs Lens: Preview, Free Tip & Prediction
07.08.2021 18:00
Sunday's first round of Ligue 1 will start at 13:00 with Rennes vs Lens. At the end of last season, the two teams fought a tough battle for 6th place and thus participation in the Conference League, with Rennes finishing just one point above Lens.
Basic information, news and team form
Rennes are having quite a busy transfer summer. The team has been strengthened by the highly-rated winger Sulemana from Nordsjælland, who should form a striking duo on the wings with Belgian Doku, who has been with the team since last season. In addition, SRFC acquired stopper Badé from Lens, while left back Meling joined from relegated Nimes. The main question is of course the possible departure of midfielder Camavinga, around whom several European clubs are circling.
Lens had a great rookie season last year and finishing in the top ten was a huge success. This year, Franck Haise's charges will be looking to build on that, but nothing easy awaits them. The second seasons among the elite are usually the most difficult for the newcomers, and Lens also lost an important centre-back Badé and a striker Kalimuendo, who returned to PSG from a loan spell.
Betdoin's view of the match
The home side are the favourites for the match and will be looking to start the season successfully in front of their fans. However, Lens will not be an easy opponent and can trouble the Rennes defence, especially up front. The Betdoin algorithm sees potential for goals in this match and found value in the odds for at least one goal scored in the first half.
Absentees and probable line-ups
Rennes have a pretty much full squad for the first games of the season, while Lens will have to do without suspended defenders Gradit and Medina plus injured winger Haidara. Sulemana, who is expected to do big things in France, should be included in the home team's line-up.
Rennes - likely line-up:
Gomis - Traoré, Badé, Aguerd, Maouassa - Bourigeaud, Camavinga, Tait - Doku, Terrier, Sulemana
Lens - likely line-up:
Leca - Wooh, Fortes, Danso - Clauss, Doucouré, Fofana, Machado - Kakuta - Ganago, Sotoca
