Lyon vs Monaco: Preview, Free tip & Prediction
15.10.2021 14:00
The highlight of the tenth round of Ligue 1 will be Saturday's clash between Lyon and Monaco. Both ambitious teams are slowly picking themselves up after a disappointing beginning of the season and are starting to confirm the high expectations.
Basic information, news and team form
Lyon recorded only two points in the opening three rounds and after the 0:3 debacle against Angers, they even resorted to personnel changes, relegating centre-back Marcel to the reserves. However, OL got their first win at the end of August, beating Nantes 1-0, and confirmed their upward trend in September with several good results. Lyon's only loss came at PSG (1:2), but ironically, they put in a great performance and only a goal in stoppage time cost them a valuable point. In the last two rounds, however, Les Gones have started to lose again in games they should be winning. First, they drew 1-1 at home to Lorient in round 9, then a week later they scored the same result in the derby at Saint-Étienne. It should be added that in both matches Lyon had a man sent off.
Monaco seem to have forgotten their terrible start to the season and are starting to live up to expectations. Les Monegasques are currently on a run of six competitive games without a defeat, with three wins in a row on the league scene. Last time out, ASM handled Bordeaux smoothly at home 3-0, and scored the same number of goals in their previous matches against Clermont and Saint-Étienne as well. Thanks to this, Monaco quickly moved up the table and are now in sixth place, one point ahead of Lyon.
Betdoin's view of the match
The slight favourite is the home side Lyon, but with many absences on both sides this is a tough game to predict. Goal bets could offer more certainty, which is also confirmed by Betdoin's algorithm. The system has identified several goal picks as valuable, one of them being the BTS bet, i.e. both teams will score. Both Bosz and Kovac profess attacking football and it can be expected that their head-to-head duel will offer plenty of chances for both sides.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
Lyon will be missing injured strikers Dembele and Slimani, while goalkeeper Lopes will also be unavailable due to a suspension. Manager Bosz is also unlikely to be able to use key midfielder Paqueta, who returned late from the international break. Monaco will have to do without Diop and Tchouameni (both suspended), with Fabregas dealing with injury problems.
Lyon - estimated line-up:
Pollersbeck - Dubois, Boateng, Denayer, Emerson - Mendes, Caqueret - Ekambi, Aouar, Cherki - Kadewere
Monaco - estimated line-up:
Nubel - Aguilar, Disasi, Badiashile, Henrique - Diatta, Fofana, Lucas, Golovin - Ben Yedder, Volland
