Montpellier lost a couple of mainstays over the summer and replaced their manager, but it didn't affect their results. MHSC have a solid 19 points after 14 rounds and have been playing in good form in recent weeks. In the previous five rounds La Paillade have won three times, all against tough opponents in Lens, Nantes and Nice. It was only last weekend that Rennes managed to put the brakes on their good streak, as they clearly outplayed Montpellier at home and walked away with a 2-0 win. MHSC confirmed in the match that they are much more dangerous at home than away: while they lost only once in seven rounds in front of their own fans, they managed to get only one win on their opponents' fields. 

Lyon had a home game against Marseille last weekend, but the highly anticipated duel quickly fell through. Already in the 2nd minute a thrown bottle hit the visiting Payet and the match was prematurely ended after a long delay. Lyon lost the chance to make amends for the last league round before the international break, in which they lost 1:4 to Rennes after a terrible performance. The current 10th place in the table is a big disappointment for OL, but Peter Bosz's team is improving their impression of the season in the Europa League. On Thursday, Les Gones, even with a rotated line-up, won 3-1 at Brondby's ground and after five group games they are yet to lose points.

Two teams that are stronger going forward than backwards will face each other in Montpellier. Both teams have one of the worst defensive statistics in the league, so it won't be a surprise if the game offers goals on both sides.
