Nice strengthened its squad during the summer and brought in highly-rated manager Galtier from Lille, so the club's clear goal is to qualify for European competitions. However, OGC's start to the season did not go according to plan, as they failed to overcome a resolute Reims side and achieved only a point for a 0-0 draw. Last weekend at the home of champions Lille it was a different story. Galtier did not spare his former charges and his Nice side completely dismantled their opponents. With a 4-0 win, Nice clearly showed that they are a force to be reckoned with this season. 

Marseille have also strengthened significantly over the summer, with manager Sampaoli now working with a much improved squad compared to the spring when he joined the club. Under his management, OM have become an attractive team that scores goals as well as concedes them. So far this season, this has been exactly the case: in the first round at Montpellier, Marseille went from 0:2 to 3:2, while in the second round at home against Bordeaux, OM threw away a 2:0 lead and surprisingly only drew 2:2.
