Nice vs Marseille: Preview, Free tip & Prediction
21.08.2021 12:00
Ligue 1 Sunday's lineup will finish with a highly anticipated clash between Nice and Marseille. Both teams are among the contenders for a top 5 finish and both are undefeated this season so far, with four points from two games.
Basic information, news and team form
Nice strengthened its squad during the summer and brought in highly-rated manager Galtier from Lille, so the club's clear goal is to qualify for European competitions. However, OGC's start to the season did not go according to plan, as they failed to overcome a resolute Reims side and achieved only a point for a 0-0 draw. Last weekend at the home of champions Lille it was a different story. Galtier did not spare his former charges and his Nice side completely dismantled their opponents. With a 4-0 win, Nice clearly showed that they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
Marseille have also strengthened significantly over the summer, with manager Sampaoli now working with a much improved squad compared to the spring when he joined the club. Under his management, OM have become an attractive team that scores goals as well as concedes them. So far this season, this has been exactly the case: in the first round at Montpellier, Marseille went from 0:2 to 3:2, while in the second round at home against Bordeaux, OM threw away a 2:0 lead and surprisingly only drew 2:2.
Betdoin's view of the match
This is why it usually pays off to bet on goals in OM matches, which is confirmed by Betdoin's algorithm analysis of this match. One of the value bets selected by the system is BTTS, meaning both teams will score at least one goal. Nice clearly showed against Lille that they can take advantage of open spaces against offensive opponents, while Marseille, has enough attacking quality to test the home team's defence.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
After impressing against Lille, Nice don't have many reasons to change their lineup. Stengs and Schneiderlin, who missed the start of the season due to injuries, could be ready to play, however they are not expected to feature in the starting XI. Marseille will certainly have to do without centre-back Balerdi, who was sent off last round, while the start of his defensive teammate Peres, who has been dealing with a break-in at his house in recent days, is uncertain.
Nice - estimated line-up:
Benitez - Atal, Todibo, Dante, Bard - Boudaoui, Rosario, Lemina, Kluivert - Gouiri, Dolberg
Marseille - estimated line-up:
Mandanda - Saliba, Alvaro, Peres - Under, Kamara, Gueye, De la Fuente - Gerson, Guendouzi - Payet
