Nice vs Monaco: Preview, Free tip & Prediction
18.09.2021 12:00
Sunday's Ligue 1 schedule kicks off with a very attractive match, with Nice hosting Monaco from 13:00. The rivals from the Cote d'Azur have had a different start to the season, but the derby does not have a clear favourite.
Basic information, news and team form
Nice has made no secret of their big ambitions before the start of the new season and so far they have confirmed them on the pitch. Galtier's team only drew 0-0 with Reims in the first round, but since then they have not lost a point and are on a run of three wins in a row. It could have been one game longer, but the home match against Marseille was suspended due to riots and will be replayed at the end of October. In addition, Nice were deducted one point in the table and will have to play several games without fans, so they will have to do without the support of a sold-out stadium against Monaco.
Monaco does not have to worry about riots from their fans, but they have enough problems of their own. In the opening five rounds, Niko Kovac's team has earned only four points and is only 16th in the table. Monaco is struggling mainly in attack, which was clearly visible last weekend against Marseille: ASM didn’t produce a single shot on target and lost 0:2. In Thursday's Europa League match against Sturm Graz, Les Monégasques confirmed their role as favourites and won 1-0 at home. However, Monaco's attack didn't work as expected in this match either, given their clear superiority, the home side could have easily won by a bigger margin.
Betdoin's view of the match
The odds quite clearly indicate that the match should offer an even battle with no clear favourite. Both teams will probably focus mainly on eliminating the opponent's strengths, so an empty stadium might see a tactical battle between Galtier and Kovač. Thus, Betdoin's algorithm has headed to the corner kick market in search of value this time around, with the under 9.5 corners at odds of around 1.80 identified as value.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
Nice will be missing the injured Kluivert and Claude-Maurice, Schneiderlin's start is doubtful. Monaco will have to do without Sidibé while the fitness of striker Boadu will be assessed before the match. ASM played on Thursday, so we can expect a few changes in the line-up.
Nice - estimated line-up:
Benítez - Atal, Todibo, Dante, Bard - Boudaoui, Rosario, Lemina, Gouiri - Dolberg, Delort
Monaco - estimated line-up:
Nubel - Aguilar, Maripan, Badiashile, Henrique - Martins, Fofana, Tchouameni, Diop - Ben Yedder, Volland
