The tenth round of the French Ligue 1 will start on Friday night with PSG vs Angers. Surprisingly, it will be a match between the first and the fourth team in the table, with the visitors exceeding expectations so far.

PSG have been confirming their role as favourites in Ligue 1 right from the start of the season. In the opening eight rounds, Les Parisiens have not lost a single point and have comfortably settled at the top of the table, where most experts and fans expected them to be. However, the performances of Pochettino's team did not always match the results. In several matches PSG won only thanks to last-minute goals against the run of play. The Parisians ran out of luck in the last game before the October international break: in the 9th round match at Rennes, PSG failed to score and deservedly fell 0-2. The dream season without defeat will not happen this year either. 

In the summer, long-time manager Moulin left Angers, the squad saw only minimal changes, and due to irregularities in the club's accounts, there was even a threat of relegation to Ligue 2. However, the performance on the pitch reliably dispelled this pessimism. After nine rounds, Le SCO have only one loss and with 16 points they are in a sensational fourth place. The best moment so far was the 3-0 demolition of Lyon in Round 2, but results like the win over Rennes (2-0) or the draw with Marseille (0-0) are not to be dismissed either. Angers can go to Paris without unnecessary pressure, because they have won important points elsewhere.

Although this is a match between two teams from the top of the table, it probably won't surprise anyone that PSG is a huge favourite. The Betdoin algorithm also predicts a home win, but it also believes that Angers could put in a solid performance at least at the back. Le SCO are among the best teams in the league in terms of goals and chances conceded, which should be useful in Paris. Thus, the system has found interesting value especially in the under bets, for example on goals in the first half. 

 

 

Absentees and estimated line-ups 

PSG will be missing injured Ramos, Navas and Bernat, while the start of several players who featured in international matches is uncertain. Les Parisiens have an important Champions League match against Leipzig on Tuesday 19 October, so Mauricio Pochettino will almost certainly rest some of the key players. Angers don't have to deal with similar problems and should arrive in Paris with an almost full squad.
