The twelfth round of Ligue 1 will open on Friday evening with a match between the two best teams of the last season. Defending champions Lille will come to the ground of PSG, who are currently on course to get the title back to Paris.

The Parisians lead the table after eleven games, with a comfortable seven-point cushion over second-placed Lens. But after an initial run of eight wins in a row, some poor results have started to come in recent weeks: first PSG lost 0:2 to Rennes in round 9, then last weekend they brought just a point from Marseille for a 0:0 draw. Pochettino's team didn't impress in Round 10 against Angers either and had to save the three points from a controversial penalty shortly before the end. PSG are simply not having a good part of the season, which is also contributed by the so far futile search for form by Neymar or Messi.
Lille, however, are not significantly better off. That LOSC might not be in the title fight this time around has been clear practically from the start of the season, but even so, the performances of last year's champions have been disappointing. Lille are only tenth in the table, have only four wins and are struggling to replicate their great defence that graced them just a few months ago. Last weekend Les Dogues only drew 1-1 at home to Brest, and in the previous round they even lost 0-1 at Clermont. After a run of three wins between the seventh and ninth rounds, Lille quickly reverted to the below-average performances they have been putting in since the opening week of the season. Things are not significantly better in the Champions League either, where LOSC have scored just one goal in three games and are still waiting for their first win.
Betdoin's view of the match
PSG have only managed to beat Lille once in their last four games: the last time they fell short was in August when Les Dogues won the Super Cup 1-0. This time, however, a clear PSG triumph is expected, and very low odds reflect it. The Betdoin algorithm also picks the home side to win, but the system sees the value mainly in the under market. The visitors are likely to arrive in Paris aiming to defend for their lives, and PSG's form does not suggest that the home side should be able to comfortably beat them.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
PSG will have to deal with several significant absences: Ramos, Verratti and Paredes are injured, while Hakimi will not play due to a red card from the last game. In addition, the status of Mbappé and Messi is uncertain as both players missed Thursday's training due to health problems. Lille don't have to deal with so many absences, only injured centre-back Botman is likely to miss the game.
