PSG will face their toughest test of the season so far next week when Manchester City come to Paris in the Champions League. But before that, Pochettino's team will want to maintain their league unbeaten run against Montpellier. 

Basic information, news and team form

PSG have seven wins from seven league rounds, but at least the last two were very unconvincing. On Sunday against Lyon and on Wednesday against Metz, the Parisians put in poor performances and in both games the score was tied 1-1 with a few seconds left, but last-minute goals eventually gave PSG a narrow 2-1 triumph. However, the performances were not convincing and it only confirmed the doubts about the current form of Pochettino's team. The star attack is still searching for harmony, Mbappe is far from his best form and the defence has kept only two clean sheets in seven games. However, the team is picking up results. 

Montpellier lost key strikers Laborde and Delort at the end of the transfer window, but it hasn't had a significant impact on results so far. MHSC has only lost to Lille in the last five rounds and is 10th in the table. Valere Germain is helping to fill the gap in attack, scoring three goals in three starts. He was particularly successful in Wednesday's match against Bordeaux, where he contributed two goals to the 3-3 draw. 

 

 

Betdoin's view of the match 

Both teams are better at attacking than defending so far. PSG's offensive qualities need no elaboration, but Montpellier can be dangerous as well. MHSC have quickly adopted the attractive style of new manager Dall'Oglio and their games usually offer shootouts. Betdoin's algorithm expects something similar in Paris, with BTS's opportunity among other things identified as a value bet. PSG will quite possibly rotate the line-up ahead of the City game, so Montpellier could find ways to trouble the hosts. 

 

 

Absentees and estimated line-ups 

The substitution of Lionel Messi against Lyon has been a subject of many debates, but the fact is that the Argentine had a minor problem with his knee and missed Wednesday's match against Metz because of it. He will most likely not be ready against Montpellier either: PSG don't want to rush anything, especially before the big game against City. Apart from Messi, the home side will also miss Verratti, Ramos and Bernat. Montpellier will have to do without the injured Sakho.
