The thirteenth round of Ligue 1 will conclude on Sunday evening with an attractive duel between Rennes and Lyon. Both teams have ambitions to reach the top of the table and are separated only by goal difference. 

Basic information, news and team form

An exceptional match awaits especially the home manager Bruno Genesio. Most of his career has been with Lyon, where he has held several positions between 2007 and 2019, from scout to A team manager. Since this summer, however, he's been in charge of the Rennes bench and so far he's not doing badly at all. Les Rouge et Noir haven't lost six games in a row in the league, they were the only ones to beat PSG this season and hold a solid 5th place in the table, just ahead of Lyon by a goal difference. Rennes are also successfully managing the Conference League group: after four games they have 10 points and are very close to qualifying for the spring phase. 

A week ago, Lyon played an important match against Lens and won 2-1 to make up for the previous round when they lost to Nice despite being two goals up. Les Gones confirmed that they are one of the best teams in the league at home: they recently beat Monaco 2-0 in front of their own fans and have not lost once in seven league games. However, Peter Bosz's charges have a significantly worse record away from home, where they have won only once in five attempts. They will face another tough test at Rennes, but they need to pass it in the fight for the top four.

The match should offer a very even battle, which is also confirmed by the odds, which do not see a clear favourite. The Betdoin algorithm predicts a similarly close match: although it is very slightly in favour of the home team, the bets on Rennes’ success do not offer much value.
