Before the start of the season, few would have expected Juventus vs Sampdoria in the sixth round of Serie A to be a battle of two table neighbours. Both teams have only five points and are in the second half of the standings. 

Basic information, news and team form

Juventus are experiencing their worst start to a season since 1961. In the opening four rounds, the Bianconeri earned just two points from draws with Udinese and AC Milan, an unmitigated disaster for the traditional table leader. Juve only managed to end their wait for a win last weekend at Spezia, but even in this match the Old Lady's performance was not very convincing. Although the visitors took the lead with a goal from Keane, Spezia managed to turn the score around and with 25 minutes to go it was still 2-1 to the home side. But then Chiesa equalised and de Ligt scored in the 72nd minute to give Juventus a 3-2 win. 

If someone had told Sampdoria players before the season that they would have the same number of points as Juventus after five rounds, no one would have protested. Looking at the Old Lady's form, however, it's clear that it's not that much of an achievement. Sampdoria are not convincing in the beginning of the season, so far they have only managed to beat Empoli, whom they outplayed 3-0. However, the most valuable result can be considered a 2-2 draw with Inter Milan, which Sampdoria recorded in the third round. The confrontation with another strong opponent was much worse, last weekend Genoa lost 0:4 at home to Napoli.
