Napoli vs Juventus: Preview, Free tip & Prediction
10.09.2021 12:00
The third round of the Italian Serie A will offer a big clash between Napoli and Juventus on Saturday. While the hosts are yet to lose a point in the new season, the visitors are still waiting for their debut win in the new campaign.
Basic information, news and team form
After last year's 5th place, Napoli would like to get back into the fight for the top positions in Serie A. That daunting task has been given to new manager Luciano Spalletti, who replaced Gennaro Gattuso in the summer. And he hasn't started badly at all: Napoli had a great pre-season, during which they won all six games and managed to beat Bayern 3-0. Moreover, SSC entered the league season in a similar fashion. In the opening round against Venezia, they lost Osimhen to a red card in the 23rd minute, but still went on to win 2-0. Spalletti's team also recorded a good result in the second round, winning 2-1 at Genoa.
Juventus too could not be satisfied with last season, 4th place was far from the club's expectations. Andrea Pirlo paid the price as he was replaced by the experienced Massimiliano Allegri. Personnel changes also affected the playing squad, with Cristiano Ronaldo unexpectedly leaving at the end of August. On the other hand, Moise Kean from Everton came to fill the gap in attack. However, Juventus did not make an ideal start to the post-Ronaldo era. In the first round, they were 2-0 up at Udinese, but in the end it was only a point for a 2-2 draw. Juve fared even worse a week later, losing at home to Empoli 0-1. The Old Lady is still waiting for the first win of the 21/22 season.
Betdoin's view of the match
Spalletti and Allegri are both experienced strategists and the match could offer a tactical battle rather than a goal shootout. The stakes are high: for Napoli it's the first big test of the new season, while Juventus need to make up for the miserable August results. Betdoin's algorithm, however, trusts the home side a bit more, as the system has selected a bet on Napoli win without a draw as a value bet. Juventus are currently way too vulnerable and the home team's so far excellent defence could be the difference in the match.
Absentees and estimated line-ups
Napoli will have striker Osimhen back after his red card from the match against Venezia, while Mertens, Lobotka, Zielinski and Ghoulam will be missing due to injuries. Juventus will have to do without Chiesa, Arthur and Ramsey.
Napoli - estimated line-up:
Ospina - Lorenzo, Manolas, Koulibaly, Rui - Ruiz, Anguissa, Elmas - Politano, Osimhen, Insigne
Juventus - estimated line-up:
Szczęsny - De Sciglio, Bonucci, Chiellini, Pellegrini - McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Bernardeschi - Morata, Kulusevski
