Barcelona vs Getafe: Preview, Free tip & Prediction

Sunday's La Liga schedule starts at 17:00 with Barcelona against Getafe. The Catalan club only drew at Bilbao last time out, however a similar result against Getafe would be a surprise, with the visitors still waiting for their first points of the season. 

Basic information, news and team form

Barcelona is getting used to an era without Lionel Messi. His contribution should be at least partially replaced by Depay and Aguero, who have strengthened the club over the summer, but the Argentine striker will not be ready until early October due to injury. It is the Dutchman Depay who is available and it was him who saved at least a 1-1 draw last weekend at Bilbao with a beautiful goal 15 minutes from the end. Barcelona otherwise put in a very unconvincing performance in the match, dampening a bit the expectations that might have been created after the 4-2 win over Sociedad in the first round. 

Getafe finished last season in 15th place, just four points clear of the relegation places. So far this season, things don't look much better for the Azulones: 2 games, 2 defeats, 0 goals scored. It should be added that Getafe had a rather tough draw in the form of Valencia and Sevilla, but even so, it's not exactly a dream start to the new season. Manager Míchel can at least be happy with the fact that his charges were not significantly outplayed in any of the games they lost and with a bit of luck they could have had at least a point. They were very close to it against Sevilla, however a conceded goal in the third minute of the additional time resulted in yet another 0:1 defeat. 

Betdoin's view of the match 

Barcelona are clearly the favourites of this match, but they are no longer the dominant team that would dismantle one opponent after another at the Camp Nou. They are vulnerable defensively and Getafe could trouble them. That's why a bet on at least three away corners is an interesting pick, with Betdoin algorithm selecting it as a value bet. Getafe has been quite productive in terms of corners this season and Barcelona has been leaky at the back so far, so it seems reasonable to back the visitors at least in the corner market.

 

 

Absentees and estimated line-ups 

Centre-back Eric Garcia was sent off against Bilbao and will not help Barcelona against Getafe. The injured Dembélé, Aguero, Ter-Stegen and Fati will also be missing and Piqué will probably not be fit enough to start. For Getafe, only Cucurella and Abdulai will be missing due to injury problems.
